Pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation No. 60, the Department has prepared several activities to celebrate the annual observance of the National Family Week. This year’s theme, “Pamilyang Pilipino: Pagtugon sa Nagbabagong Pananaw at Panahon” encapsulates the idea of ever-changing dynamics of a family that values inclusivity, respect, and adaptability in Filipino homes.

As such, the Social Marketing Unit (SMU)-Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in collaboration with the Protective Services Division (PSD) will be holding a series of activities from September 25-29, 2023 in celebration of the said observance.

The objective of conducting such activities is to enjoin the support of the DSWD employees and the public to the National Family Week Celebration.

The celebration will kick-off by the hanging of a tarpaulin and launching of the Family Flex Wall on the first day of the week, Sept 25, Monday. This wall is dedicated to ‘flex’ or be proud of our families where employees of DSWD FO IX are enjoined to post a printed copy of photos of their families on the wall installed in front of the DSWD building.

By the end of the week, the organizers aim to produce a collage of photos as a mean of verification for advocating family relations among employees of the DSWD 9.

To showcase the dynamic trends of families, the organizers will also be putting up a photo exhibit at the entrance of the office building featuring the uniqueness of Filipino households that have progressed since the traditional definition of the word family.

Various categories were identified by the organizing team which highlight the advancement of our understanding of what a family should be, to wit:

• Adoptive/Foster Family
• Same-sex Family
• PWD Family
• Solo Parent Family
• 4Ps Family
• DSWD staff’s Family

Furthermore, in order to strengthen this idea of family in the workplace, the organizers will be holding a fun group activity that will elicit participation and togetherness from amongst teams.

The activity is dubbed as Family Port-Art (Portrait Art) competition which will be open for DSWD employees.

In culmination, the Department will hold an event on September 29^th to wrap up this year’s family week celebration. This will be half-day activity that will gather DSWD employees, their families, and 4Ps family-beneficiaries in one venue to celebrate the resiliency, perseverance, and development of Filipino families.
