94 Newly Hired PDOs of DSWD-SLP all set for Deployment

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office IX recently hired ninety four (94) Project Development Officers (PDOs) as additional workforce under Sustainable Livelihood Program and now all set for deployment on field after attending the 2-day Basic Orientation Seminar at La Viña Hotel, Zamboanga City on April 25-26, 2017.

 

The additional workers shall be deployed in the different municipalities/cities of Zamboanga Peninsula to expand the reach of the program implementation.

 

During the orientation, SLP staff further deliberated the overview of the program to provide the PDOs general knowledge on the different processes of SLP and how it operates as a program.

 

The newly hired PDOs are expected to do the following major tasks on field: to identify the right projects at the right place for the right participants, to understand the key aspects of Feasibility Assessment in the identification and implementation of SLP projects in the community, and to be able to implement the different SLP modalities following the required procedures, parameters and disbursement processes.

 

Under the 94 newly hired PDOs, 17 staff shall be under the PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn (PAMANA) which will be assigned in the Municipalities of Sibuco, Sirawai, Siocon and Baliguiaan.

 

While 22 are SLP Implementing PDOs for the municipalities who do not have PDOs yet and 55 are SLP Monitoring PDOs who will handle 2-3 nearby municipalities in the region.

 

Moreover, Implementing Project Development Officers has 230 beneficiaries target to give assistance within the year, while 1,000 beneficiaries for Monitoring PDOs yearly.

 

Sustainable Livelihood Program provides identified poor and vulnerable families and individuals the appropriate income-generating opportunities to help improve their level of economic sufficiency. Through the different modalities that it offers such as skills training, seed capital fund, employment assistance fund, and the cash for building livelihood assets it increases the economic opportunities of the families.###
