In observance of the holy month of Ramadhan, the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office IX distributed a total amount of 1.750 million worth of Ramadhan food packs given to the Five thousand seventy six (5,076) families who are internally displaced and currently sheltered in all Evacuation Centers and Transitory Sites.

Each family received Php 350 pesos worth of food packs containing 3 kgs of Rice, 12 sachets of instant coffee, 4 cans of sardines, 3 cans of corned beef and 8 pcs of noodles.

The DSWD has already started giving out the food packs since July 18 covering the following Evacuation centers and Transitory Sites: Taluksangay, PTSI, Tulungatung, ZCES, Cawa-Cawa, Rio Hondo, Dongems,Talon-Talon Elementary School, Masepla, Paniran, Grandstand and Grandstand Bunk Houses.

There will be also 299 families who were fire victims in Campo Islam who shall be receiving the same food packs this month.

Ramadhan is worldwide observation by the whole Muslim community as a month of fasting. This annual observance is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam. ##
