The National Household Targeting Unit-BaSulTa cluster of the Department of Social Welfare and Development conducted a simultaneous activity at Beach Side Inn, Bongao, Tawi Tawi Province on May 7-9, 2014.

Said activity was an orientation for the Local Government Units (LGUs) on the 2nd nationwide household assessment and training of Area Supervisors and Enumerators in the conduct of the Special Validation for Social Pension Beneficiaries.

Attended by local chief executives, Social Welfare Officers,Planning and Development Officers, some National Government Agencies, the orientation kicked off with a simple launching and brief overview on the new brand name of NHTS-PR to Listahanan (Talaan ng Pamilyang Nangangailangan). It followed with the orientation on relevant topics on the Proxy Means Test, Barangay Community Characteristics, Data Sharing Protocols and Memorandum of Agreement presented by DSWD-NHTU staff of Field Office IX.

Tawi Tawi which belongs to BaSulTa cluster is part of the Autonomus Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). It has eleven (11) municipalities which holds a target of 73,872 households in the 2nd Assessment.

Meanwhile, One (1) Area Supervisor and Three (3) Enumerators underwent orientation and training on Special Validation for Social Pension Beneficiaries on said dates. The training aims to prepare the workers to take a full grasp on the project’s objective and prepare them in conducting proper assessment to these beneficiaries who are not yet part of the Listahanan database.

A mock household interview was conducted at Brgy.Sowangkagang, a nearby community outside the venue during the 2nd day of training facilatated by Area Supervisor for Basulta, Mr. Ben Nasser Isnaen. Each worker was given a household to assess using the new Family Assessment Form (FAF). Evaluation and Processing of results were done after the fieldwork activity to verify the filled out items and as well to raise the problems and queries met during the activity.

Tawi Tawi fieldworkers will be assessing more of less 3,000 Social Pensioners in the different municipalities of the province for 15 days. Area Supervisor will be out on field seven days ahead of the Enumerators to accomplish the Barangay Community Characteristics Form through interview with Barangay officials which is part of the new assessment tools and procedures.

The activity ended with a toast of commitment led by Assistant Regional Director Consejo H. Usman together with Municipal Mayors, National Government Agencies and MSWDOs and MPDOs present to share common support and cooperation in the implementation of the said project of DSWD.

Listahanan is set to cover 15.2 Million Households Nationwide this year with more than 300 thousand target households for ARMM-Basulta cluster for the 2nd cycle. ##
