ALTERNATIVE PARENTAL CARE PROGRAM
Alternative Parental Care Program of the DSWD is a child care and placement services provided to children in especially difficult circumstances whose parents are unable to provide for their basic needs, temporarily or permanently, brought about by problems in the family relationships, illness, extreme poverty, lack of parenting preparation and aggravated by lack of family support.
The alternative family care arrangements may be provided through Legal adoption and Foster Care Program where applicant secures documents and requirements facilitated through the Adoption Resource and Referral Section of the DSWD.
Legal Adoption is a socio-legal process of providing a permanent family to a child whose parents have voluntarily or involuntarily relinquished their parental authority over the child. It enables a child who is legally free or eligible for adoption to benefit from family life and become a permanent member of a family who can give him or her love, protection and opportunities for growth and development. / On the other hand, The Foster Care program enables every child for foster care to experience a caring and nurturing family life provided by a licensed foster family on a temporary basis towards permanent placement.
