BALAY DANGPANAN SA KABATAAN
Balay Dangpanan sa Kabataan or Home for Girls is a residential facility of DSWD Field Office IX for girls in extremely difficult circumstances. It is presently located at Barangay Anastacio, Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte. This facility started as diagnostic center for children in June 1996 when high incidence of child abuse cases was recorded in this part of the region. Due to the increasing number of female victims of abuse and since there is no government facility to address the need of the female children in extremely difficult circumstances region wide, this center evolved into a home and refuge for girls which is called in vernacular as Balay Dangpanan sa Kabataan or BDSK.
The home is anchored on social work beliefs and values that every person has the inherent worth and dignity. A home like atmosphere shall be provided to the children at the home. They shall be involved in all household work and other activities as part of building their self-worth and positive outlook in life.
