The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its KALAHI-CIDSS Program, successfully conducted a Community Finance Training on July 30, 2025, at Barangay Sinunuc, Zamboanga City, for community volunteers and barangay officials from Barangays Sinunuc and Maasin. Both barangays are set to implement the KALAHI-CIDSS Pag-Abot Community-Driven Development (CDD) initiative.

The training aimed to strengthen the financial management capacities of local implementers as they prepare to carry out community-based projects under the Pag-Abot CDD. Participants included barangay officials, community volunteers, and finance personnel who are expected to lead and oversee the financial operations of their respective sub-projects.
The one-day session covered essential financial processes such as the proper handling of funds—from sourcing, collection, and disbursement, to liquidation and financial reporting. Attendees were also equipped with practical knowledge on the standard procedures for reimbursements, cash advances, procurement, and the correct use of financial forms and bookkeeping practices.

Through interactive discussions and hands-on activities, participants were able to build confidence in managing project funds and ensuring accountability in all financial transactions. The training also highlighted the importance of transparency, proper documentation, and adherence to prescribed government guidelines in maintaining public trust and promoting sustainable development.
