Zamboanga City – To ensure transparency and efficiency in community-driven projects, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) KALAHI-CIDSS program conducted recently a two-day procurement training at the Barangay Hall of Sinunuc.
The activity, attended by members of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), Head of Procuring Entity (HOPE), and Technical Working Group (TWG) from Barangays Sinunuc and Maasin, aimed to strengthen compliance with government procurement laws.
Facilitated by Ms. Rocelyn, Supply Officer IV and Chief of the Procurement and Awards Division of Local Government of Zamboanga, the training focused on Republic Act 9184 (Government Procurement Reform Act). She was assisted by colleagues Ms. Irene Igot and Mr. Marco Florentino, who provided hands-on guidance on proper procurement procedures.
“This training is crucial in empowering barangay officials, community volunteers to handle procurement with accountability,” said Ms. Rocelyn. It ensures proper adherence to RA 9184 guarantees that community projects meet legal requirements and benefit residents effectively.
The KALAHI-CIDSS program, which supports grassroots development through participatory planning, emphasizes good governance and community involvement. This training ensures that barangay implementers are well-equipped to manage resources responsibly.
With improved procurement knowledge, Sinunuc and Maasin are now better prepared to implement KALAHI-CIDSS initiatives—transparently, efficiently, and in full compliance with the law.
