The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has collaborated with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in providing job opportunities to exited and active members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). This collaboration happened during the Labor Day Job Fair activity of the DOLE which catered to the 4Ps families.

“This is one of the efforts that we are doing to ensure that the graduating and those who already graduated from the 4Ps program will be able to land a job and support their families,” Regional Director of the DSWD-9, Riduan P. Hadjimuddin said in an interview.

With the approved RA 11310, each family-beneficiary is transitioned to exit from the 4Ps program within 7 years period. The 4Ps Trabaho Caravan is DSWD’s effort to facilitate the sustainability of the progress of 4Ps families so they would not slide back to subsistence or survival level once they exit the program, Hadjimuddin added.

A total of 154 beneficiaries of the country’s conditional cash transfer program in Zamboanga City showed up at KCC Mall De Zamboanga yesterday, May 01, to avail the job-opportunity services.

The DOLE set up a special lane for 4Ps to register, verify, and validate the documents of applicants for a smooth employment facilitation. Moreover, the DOLE also provided counselling and coaching services for applicants before their sit-down interview with potential employees, giving them a leverage for higher chances at getting hired.

With these interventions, 19 4Ps beneficiaries were hired on the spot by several companies.

The 4Ps Trabaho Caravan is an initiative of the DSWD-9 last year which made an economic impact in the total well-being of the 4Ps families. This year, the DOLE led the activity in line with the nationwide Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas para sa 4Ps. However, the DSWD will still conduct the 4Ps Trabaho Caravan in 3 more provinces in Zamboanga Peninsula within the year.
