ZAMBOANGA CITY –Save the Children Philippines, led by Program Coordinator Ms. Zenona Gread and Project Officer Ms. Jade Paitan, visited the region on January 27 to monitor the progress of the Mapangbata roll-out.

Mapangbata is a module to be taught to 4Ps parents during Family Development Sessions (FDS) that promotes positive parenting and child-sensitive practices to support children’s rights, development, and well-being.

The visit began with a meeting with some 4Ps focal persons to discuss matters pertaining to the said module followed by an observation of the roll-out implementation at San Jose Gusu, Zamboanga City where the module was facilitated for the beneficiaries.

Despite the lack of budget for the roll-out, the region achieved significant progress by successfully training 668 4Ps field implementers. Plans are already in place to conduct additional rollouts for untrained City and Municipal Links and Community Facilitators in Zamboanga Sibugay and other areas in Zamboanga City.

City Link Joel Capa was commended by the visitors and partners for his excellent facilitation of the module as well as the active engagement of the beneficiaries.

The activity was attended by the 4Ps Regional Program Coordinator (RPC), FDS Focal, Social Welfare Officer III, Youth Development Session Focal and the Regional Case Mangament focal. Also present were the Gender And Development Focal, Training Specialist, and Institutional Partnership Division Officer.

The Department believes that the knowledge and awareness of this module will strongly help empower the beneficiaries of the 4Ps and promote the welfare of the families in the program.
