When we talk about the children monitored and supported by DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), who are we talking about exactly? In this narrative, we will get to know the face of 4Ps children and how the program supports these children in reaching their goals, dreams, and aspirations in life.
Meet Maundy Amabelle B. Omania, a 10-year-old little girl who, despite being in a Regional Pilot School – Special Education (RPS-SPED), has shown exemplary capabilities that outshine many children her age.
In a little town of Margosatubig in Zamboanga Del Sur, a 4Ps kid excels in so many ways, proving that poverty can’t stop a dreamer from reaching her dreams. Since kindergarten, Maundy consistently earns an honor student distinction. In Kinder 2, she was first place in a spoken poetry contest during their Buwan ng Wika celebration.
She also achieved a significant milestone in her extracurricular activity. She was crowned as Mutya ng Kampo 2023 in her school, a testament to her dedication and talent. Her spoken poetry performance during the competition captured the audience, earning her the titles Best in Q and A and Best in Talent.
Aside from spoken poetry, she finds comfort and joy in the art of drawing. This passion led her to represent her school in a Poster Making Contest where she won second place. She also competed in Editorial Cartooning during the District Schools Press Conference and won fifth place.

She might also be a born leader because at age 10, she already demonstrates qualities of a leader. She was elected as Supreme Pupil Government Auditor for the school year 2024-2025, showing her commitment to leadership and service.
Moreover, she is deeply involved in church activities where she had the privilege of being selected as Reyna Elena during a Flores De Mayo celebration. This experience has enriched her faith and allowed her to contribute to their church in a meaningful way.
Maundy’s ambition for herself is to be a police officer someday. She believes that women are capable enough in terms of performing roles that are generally assigned to men. This ideology is also influenced by one of the people that she looks up to and her inspiration in all her endeavors, her elder sister, Ampee Beatriz B. Omania.
LIKE ATE, LIKE BUNSO
Ate Ampee, just like Maundy, is also an achiever in school. She excelled in her studies, consistently earning With High Honors distinction. Furthermore, Ampee was valedictorian in both Elementary and Junior High School. There is no doubt as to why her sister, Maundy, admires her so much and emulates her good performances.
She was a champion in various competitions, reaching and winning at the division level in Math Olympiads, MTAP Math challenges, Science Quiz Bees, Spelling Bees, and Oratorical Speech Contests. She was also one of the dancers that represented Margosatubig in the Zayaw Sa Sur Moro Category and won as Champion during the Araw ng Zamboanga del Sur 2021.
She is also a pride of Zamboanga del Sur as she represented the province in Editorial Writing during the Regional Schools Press Conference in Dipolog City.
This is a testament to how well their parents raised them as children of 4Ps. As part of the “Parenting” modules delivered during the Family Development Sessions (FDS), the parents are reminded to prioritize the education and health of children.
As a backgrounder, Maundy and Ampee were not born in a well-off family. Their parents do not have a luxury of wealth, but they were rich in something far more valuable which is love. The girls’ father, Arnold I. Omania, a dedicated J.O. Meter Reader, works tirelessly to provide for them. He is their pillar, always ready to sacrifice everything for their well-being. Their mother, Lilibeth, on the other hand, is the heart of their home. She diligently runs their small sari-sari store with a warm smile that expressed strength and comfort.
Despite being underprivileged, their parents always ensure that there is food on their table and their needs are met. The 4Ps program supports each poor and hard working family with dreams by investing in the education and health of their children.
Maundy receives Php 300 monthly for hitting at least 85% attendance rate in school. While Ampee has already graduated from the program since the program only provides for children 18 years old and below. However, should a family has a child in Junior High School, the child receives Php 500/month or Php 700/month if the child is in Senior High School.
