The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) always points out that it is not a stand-alone program. In order to address poverty in the country, we need a holistic approach to uplift the lives of each and every poor family. The DSWD-4Ps strengthens its partnership with various stakeholders including the barangay local government units.

In 2023, Hon. Jasmin L. Manuel from Barangay Culianan, Zamboanga City landed a spot in the Barangay Council. Her main advocacy and platform is centered around children and women. Not surprisingly, she is one of the supporters of the 4Ps promoting which mandate is to ensure the welfare of families by empowering mothers and investing in health and education of children.

As a supporter, Hon. Manuel attended to the issues concerning 4Ps beneficiaries and the overall implementation of the program in the barangay. She further recommended to provide logistical support to the program by providing office space where 4Ps field implementers could stay and do their daily tasks.

Last May 08, 2024, Hon. Manuel attended the District Inter-Agency Committee (DIAC) meeting, a regular meeting initiated by 4Ps to update social welfare interventions given to its beneficiaries from various stakeholders. This is also where issues concerning 4Ps families are deliberated for possible resolutions.

To inspire many 4Ps women, Hon. Manuel also served as a Resource Speaker in this year’s women’s month celebration with 4Ps grantees.

The Provincial Operations Office of 4Ps in Zamboanga City continuously coordinates with Hon. Manuel and other local officials of Barangay Culianan for resolutions to address gaps in the implementation of program in the locality.
