Zamboanga City- DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista led the inauguration of the department’s newest regional facilities in Zamboanga City on 11 March 2022.
The facilities included the Regional Operations Center (ROC) at Gen. Vicente Alvarez St., Brgy. Zone IV, while both the Storage Building and Isolation Facility are situated inside the Centers and Residential Care Facilities (CRCF) compound at Logoy Diutay, Brgy. Mampang.
Secretary Bautista commended the efforts of Field Office 9 for the realization of the facilities during the inauguration ceremony program held at the CRCF compound.
“I would like to commend and recognize the efforts of all the officials and personnel of the Field Office 9 as well as the workforce of this compound,” he said.
The 37 sqm-ROC will serve as a conduit of the Agency Operations Center (AOC) in Field Office 9 with the functions to collect, consolidate, and process data to include the handling of grievances for the regional management’s decision-makers.
The facility will be composed of the Operations Group (OG), Information Management Group (IMG), and the Grievance Management Group (GMG).
Equipped with an essential ICT System, the ROC will be used for monitoring, collecting, analyzing, storing, and processing of data and or information on the various programs and projects of the department. It will serve as an avenue in the performance of continuous coordination and communication efforts with partner agencies and other stakeholders, which is deemed integral especially when it comes to disaster operations.
In addition, the 600 sqm-Storage Building at the CRCF compound will serve as a repository for the Disaster Response and Management Division’s (DRMD) food and non-food items (FNFI) to ensure the availability of about 30,000 family food packs (FFPs) and another 30,000 non-food items at any given time.
The warehouse will have a repacking area, loading and unloading area, and an air-conditioned office. Half of the facility will be for the supply storage of the Administrative Division while a portion of it will be for the safekeeping of Commission on Audit’s (COA) documents.
Another facility inaugurated in the same compound was the 212 sqm–Isolation Facility. Registered as one of Zamboanga City and Department of Health’s (DOH) Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facilities (TTMF), the isolation center has a 14-bed capacity with one room converted to Admitting/Administrative Section. It has a bathroom in it with complete cabinets, chairs, beds, and tables while two of its rooms are dedicated for Persons with Disability (PWD) clients.
In his speech, Secretary Bautista emphasized that the challenge is no longer “…the erection of the facilities but…begins after the buildings are erected considering the operationalization of the structures and maintenance of the facilities.” He urged everyone to take care of the added facilities to continuously provide prompt and compassionate service for its clients.
He ended by recognizing Field Office 9’s adherence to its mandate. “Thank you for your commitment and untiring efforts and sacrifices just to take care of our clients,” Secretary Bautista ended. ###
