Eight women from all walks of life were identified as this year’s Purple Women as the DSWD ZamPen celebrates Women’s Month this March. These women were identified based on their contributions to their respective communities making them women of purpose.

The term Purple Women refers to women who have exemplified extraordinary influence in their field that inspires and drives the community to achieving equality between men and women.

DSWD has identified these women per category, to wit: Jen Bisande from Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay as the Purple Woman of Arts, Sheila Mae Dagondong from Sindangan, Zamboanga Del Norte as the Purple Woman of Hope, Luzvilla Salbidos from Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay as the Purple Woman in a Man’s World, Rowena Legaspi from Zone IV, Zamboanga City as the Purple Woman of Strength, Magdalina Rabanos from Pagadian, Zamboanga Del Sur as the Purple Woman of Success, Cleo Grace Sunshine Sugue from Tambulig, Zamboanga Del Sur as the Purple Woman of Sweetness, and Atty. Sittie Raifah M. Pamaloy-Hassan and Fatima S. Caminan as our Purple Women of Leadership.

Along with this, the Department has prepared a few more activities in line with the celebration of the Women’s Month.

Last March 8 to 10, a Mural Painting competition was held at the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University along the street of R.T. Lim Blvd, Baliwasan, this city. The competition was designed to promote women empowerment through creative expression of art.

Other activities include a Photo Gallery at SM Mindpro on March 28, Information Caravan in Limpapa, Licomo, and Tolosa between March 29-30, Tiktok Video Competition on March 25, GAD Virtual Forum on March 29, and the culminating event on March 31.
