The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office IX clarifies inclusion of the Zamboanga City in the “Shame list” of those Local Government Units who have failed to liquidate the funds for Supplementary Program implementation.
In the circulating articles online, Zamboanga City was included in the Top 10 LGUs who failed to liquidate the funds for the said program amounting to 8.565 million pesos.
The DSWD Field Office IX clarifies that the reckoning period of the said report was June 2017. The CSWDO of Zamboanga City has fully liquidated the said amount last August 2017 and making them 100% fully liquidated at present. In fact, the funds for 7th cycle of Supplementary Feeding program implementation was already downloaded to them amounting to 29.7 million pesos to provide hot meals to children in child development centers for 120 days.
“The city of Zamboanga has been our partner in the implementation of DSWD programs and services and they have been regularly liquidating the funds downloaded to them. We in the DSWD always ensure that the objectives of the programs are met and the timely delivery of these services will never be affected so we always remind and encourage our partner LGUs to take the responsibility to strictly submit their liquidation reports on the given timeline.” Said DSWD Regional Director Atty. Araceli F. Solamillo
Supplementary Feeding Program is the provision of food in addition to the regular meals, to target children as part of the DSWD’s contribution to the Early Childhood Care Development (ECCD Program).
“Considering that there are new funds downloaded to them, they have already been cleared by our department and the implementation of the said program continues for the next cycle”, Atty. Solamillo added.
Zamboanga City has been implementing the Supplementary program in 350 child development centers for almost 7 years since 2011 targeting 16,500 beneficiaries at present. ##
