As part of the activities pipelined for the 2016 Elderly Filipino Week celebration, the Department of Social Welfare and Development spearheaded the visit to two of the residential homes in the city yesterday where over 50 elderly are sheltered and taken care of.

DSWD Field Office IX together with Philhealth, Department of Health, Department of Education, Department of Publics Work and Highway, Department of Science and Technology, Commission on Higher Education and Philippine Information Agency, visited Home for the Elderly in Mampang and We Care Nursing Home located in Sta. Maria, Zamboanga City.

In the photos, the members of the Regional Inter-Agency Committee for Senior Citizens are seen handling and distributing food and non-food items such as walker, medical and hygiene kits, biscuits and juices.

The visit aimed to provide opportunities for key NGA partners to show respect, gratitude and tribute to the elders which forms part of the objectives of the annual celebration which is to raise awareness on the rights and privileges of the senior citizens and their significant contribution in nation building.
