October 9, 2015 – A total of sixty (61) Area Coordinators, Area Supervisors and Enumerators assigned in the Province of Sulu attended the post-assessment seminar organized and facilitated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development IX that started last October 06-09 held at Cecile’s Pension House, Tumaga, this city.

The said gathering aimed to assess the conduct of the house-to-house enumeration in Sulu province to determine the poor households in the said area.

As of this writing, a total of 175,975 households were already assessed in the province out of the 184,313 target number of households.

Regional Field Coordinator for BASULTA, Ben-Nasser Isnain, said in an interview that the assessment is doing well in the entire province.

“We didn’t have issues in terms of security of our field workers because prior to the actual enumeration, we already coordinated with the local officials and they were really supportive of the activity. That is also why as far as our target is concerned, we are able to deliver according to our targets,” Isnain added.

During the post-assessment seminar, the field workers expressed their gratefulness to the department for the opportunity of being able to help in determining the potential beneficiaries of government programs.

“Masaya kami dahil nakatulong na kame sa mga sarili namin dahil may trabaho kame, nakatulong pa kame sa mga talagang nangangailangan na dapat maabutan ng serbisyo ng gobyerno,” Area Coordinator Fatima Sangkula said during her presentation in the seminar.

The DSWD is expected to conduct a validation activity once the assessment is closed and initial list of poor households will be available.### Yuri Choi
