Zamboanga City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office IX (DSWD-9) is geared up to conduct the 2nd round of household assessment this second quarter of the year. This project is spearheaded by the Listahanan, formerly known as the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction.

A total of 1,778 field workers were trained to facilitate, supervise and ensure the completeness of the project. This includes 57 Area Coordinators, 287 Area Supervisors and 1,434 Field Enumerators who will assess households in region 9.

The said training aims to equip the field staff with the technical know-how on proper conduct of the assessment, handling situational problems, ensuring quality on the data gathered and other work-related concerns. Furthermore, it also served as an avenue where the roles and responsibilities of a field worker were highlighted as a vital part in the success of the project.

As the department that is mandated to promote and protect the welfare of the people, Listahanan ensures that the project is done with utmost accuracy by conducting a house-to-house assessment and interview with the respondents.

“We have installed mechanisms for consistency and accuracy checks at every stage of the data collection process including, but not limited to, complete review by the Area Supervisors of the accomplished family assessment forms, spot checks and re-interview,” Regional Field Coordinator for Region 9, Atty. Antoniette Maria Lucero, said.

The assessment is done every four years to update the list of poor households in the Listahanan database. It is a very vital undertaking as it will define the quality of data and information for the database that will serve as basis for beneficiary selection of national government programs and services for the next four years.

The DSWD calls for the participation and full cooperation of the households to the project by allowing the field workers to conduct assessment inside their housing units.
