Zamboanga del Norte, October 3, 2014 – As DSWD kicks off its implementation of Kalahi CIDSS-NCDDP, the Area Coordinating Teams of Region IX are currently undergoing the basic training on KC-NCDDP process in Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte.

The 10-day training which will run from September 30 to October 9, aims to equip the 216 newly-hired field workers with necessary knowledge on how they shall go about with the program’s implementation in their respective area of responsibility. The set of facilitators who have also undergone training of trainers a week before the roll-out, have prepared training methods like simulations, practical sessions and demonstrations, group and individual exercises, case analyses, and lectures to enable more effective learning.

“The training approach for the first batch is different because the participants are newly hired. We need to discuss all the topics extensively to ensure that they comprehend everything well.” KC-NCDDP Regional Capability Building Specialist Abegail Luna stated.

Participating staff in the first batch of training are Area Coordinators, Deputy Area Coordinators (Engineers), Municipal Financial Analysts and Community Empowerment Facilitators of 16 new municipalities which include La Libertad, Labason, Manukan, Piñan, Polanco, M. Roxas, Rizal, Osmeña, Sibutad, Sindangan, Siocon and Tampilisan, ZDN, Dimataling, Guipos, Pitogo, R. Magsaysay, San Miguel, Tambulig, ZDS and Diplahan, Imelda, Olutanga, R.T. Lim, Siay and Talusan, ZSP.

“The program widens to 24 more municipalities in Region IX. With this we are capitalizing (on) enhancing the capacities and capabilities of our manpower because this will reflect the quality of their performance which is the very thing that we cannot afford to compromise in this program.” KC-NCDDP IX Deputy Regional Program Manager Elpidio Lapad said.

Following this roll-out is the municipal launch and orientation of KC-NCDDP in new municipalities to commence the standard processes which shall be carried out in the succeeding days.

The second batch of participants who are the old workers handling continuing municipalities will also undergo the same training on October 13-24, 2014 in the same venue.

Covering 43 municipalities in the entire region, KC-NCDDP intends to provide poor municipalities with community infrastructures to improve access to basic social services and increase their participation in more inclusive local planning, budgeting, and implementation.

KC-NCDDP or Kapit-bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services – National Community Driven Development Program is a scale up of Community Driven Development (CDD) approach that has proven effective for 10 years of implementation. Together with Pantawid Pamilya and Sustainable Livelihood Program, KC-NCDDP works in convergence to accelerate the attainment of Millennium Development Goals of the Country.###
